Born and raised in Vancouver, Mj Lee is an ambitious, driven individual in both creative and business aspects of life. She graduated from the prestigious Ivy League’s Dartmouth College, and has worked in some of the top event coordination and design firms in New York, working with many high profile clients such as Tommy Hilfiger, New York Model Management, and IMG Models Inc. It was not until after she finished her B.A. degree, however, that she realized that her passion for dance was her true career pathway. Mj has since performed in many live performances and music videos with artists including Pusha T & Fabolous, Meek Mill, and Five Alarm Funk to name a few. She has trained with the Vancouver Scholarship Program, SOULdiers Dance Co., Kill The Lights Co., StilettoEttes, and the Vancouver Circus School. Beyond any performance or job, her ultimate goal is simply to spread inspiration and passion for dance.
is a theatre maker, performer, and director living in Vancouver, British Columbia. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Simon Fraser University and is a graduate of Mount Royal University’s theatre arts performance program. Since completing her degree, Elysse has focused on training in contemporary dance, and devised creation practices.
As a theatre-maker, Elysse’s work is driven by a curiosity in objects, an interest in science, the abstraction of dance, and the playful tensions of magical realism. Her theatre plays with layered narratives and rhythmically driven dramaturgy, and attempts to reconcile incongruous genres, characters, and texts.
Recent examples of Elysse’s directorial and devised work include: a nostalgic mis-remembrance, Mr.Snortoose and the Machine-Children’s Machine (rEvolver Festival Spring 2015), the surreal sci-fi adventure Space, Baby (Spring 2014), ungulate-inspired hoof (Summer 2013, and Spring 2013 in Mascall Dance’s Bloom series), and the raunchy sonnet Soft Face presented at Vancouver’s 2012 Accordion Noir Festival with co-creator Elliot Vaughan. www.elyssecheadle.com
