Meet the Artist: Elissa Hanson
Elissa Hanson has played a pivotal role in the development of T H E O U T L I N E R and particularly in the creation of the solo Profilo Eterno, which she premieres on July 6th.
Elissa was born in Vancouver, BC where she began training and performing in dance, music, and theatre. She undertook post-secondary training with Modus Operandi during which time she was introduced to dance on film, physical theatre, and somatic practices. In 2012, she had the opportunity to complete EDAM Dance’s scholarship program, under the mentorship of Peter Bingham.
Elissa has performed and collaborated with Out Innerspace, Kinesis Somatheatro, Deanna Peters, Justine A.Chambers, EDAM Dance, MOVE: the company and 605 Collective. She has assisted Jennifer Mascall in Experiential Anatomy workshops, and joined Josh Beamish as a mentor in his Choreographic Mentorship Program for talented youth. Her training has taken her to France, Germany, Israel, Spain, and Thailand.
Elissa’s independent work comprises several small dances and video works, and she continues to investigate somatic, theatrical and political practices.
